Shared money, tracked together — and fairly.
Everyone contributes, the balance stays honest, and the maths is done on the server.
One shared wallet, everyone adds
Create a shared wallet for the group — a couple, a flat, a trip, a project — and invite people by email. Each person records what they spend, in their own currency, and the running total is always live and server-computed.
See who paid what
The contribution balance shows exactly what each member has put in, next to the fair equal-share per person. Settling up becomes obvious — no spreadsheet, no end-of-month reconstruction, no awkward maths.
A fair split, without judgement
Balances are numbers only — there is no “top spender” label and no social pressure. The current month is on every plan; longer fairness history is a Premium feature for groups that want the full picture.
Share a summary, keep details private
Turn the wallet into a public link to show the group total at a glance. The link reveals a safe aggregated summary — totals, top categories, budget progress — never individual transactions or anyone’s email.
From first expense to settled up.
Four steps, no spreadsheet, no end-of-trip arguments.
Create the shared wallet
Pick a base currency, name it after the group or the goal, and set an optional budget so everyone sees the target.
Invite by email, pick roles
Editors add and edit spending; viewers can follow along. Invited members join free — only the owner needs Premium.
Everyone records spending
Each person adds what they paid, in any of 50 currencies. Conversions use the stored rate, so totals always reconcile.
See who owes what
The contribution balance shows each person’s share versus the fair split, so settling up at the end is a two-second glance.
Shared expenses — questions answered honestly
How does BudgetLuma track shared expenses?
You create one shared wallet for the group and invite people by email. Everyone records what they spend inside that wallet, in their own currency. BudgetLuma computes the running total and a per-person contribution balance on the server, so the numbers always add up.
Can I see who paid what?
Yes. The contribution balance shows each member’s total contribution alongside the fair equal-share per person, so it is clear who is ahead and who owes. It is numbers only — no labels, no judgement. The current month is available on every plan; longer history is Premium.
Does BudgetLuma settle up or move money between people?
No. BudgetLuma tracks and splits the numbers so you know exactly who owes what — but it does not process payments or move money between members. You settle up your own way; the app keeps the maths honest.
Do all members need to pay for the app?
No. Invited members participate for free — they can add spending, view balances and follow the contribution balance. Creating your own shared wallet is free too; Premium only lifts the limit for unlimited wallets.
Can everyone add expenses in a different currency?
Yes. Each transaction keeps its original amount and currency, and BudgetLuma converts to the wallet’s base currency using a stored reference rate (or your real bank rate on Premium). Mixed-currency groups still get one clean, reconcilable total.
